FAVELL MUSEUM NEWSLETTER
Winter 2007
Happy New Year! All of us at the Favell Museum hope that you and your loved ones enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and wish you the best of everything in 2007!
Here at the museum, we ended the year with a flurry of activity! The 3rd Annual Artists and Authors Party was a huge success! Over 20 artists and authors participated and a great time was had by all. Sales were brisk as shoppers found those perfect gifts. New this year was a series of lectures and demonstrations which were a big hit with our visitors. People enjoyed hearing cowboy poetry and seeing the artists at work, among other things.
The week before Christmas saw completion of the electrical work that provided a completely new lighting system throughout the museum. Every case display was dismantled so the lighting could be updated. Then, of course, it was all put back. That kept us all on our toes! In addition to replacing the lights inside the museum, new lights were added in various spots outside as well, so things are much brighter all around!
As always, there is new work in the art gallery downstairs and in the gift shop. We are constantly getting new jewelry and our selection of books continues to expand. Remember that patrons get a 10% discount on all gift shop purchases, so stop by and check out the new merchandise!
Also, bookings for the meeting room are starting to pick up, so if you have an event coming up in 2007 that will require the use of a room, be sure to keep the museum in mind.
We are also happy to report that the artist life story project has been completed. It showcases the words and work of 10 local artists and is titled "Artists of the Klamath Basin: Stories, Creativity, and Meaning." We are planning a reception for the artists on February 9th, so stop by from 5-7 to meet the artists, preview the project and enjoy some light refreshments.
Several gifts to the museum have been received and are on display. Judy and Howard Phearson donated a large Don Prechtel painting and five Myrtlewood carved horses came from the estate of Lynn Moshier of Red Bluff, California.
Be sure to check the website for the regularly updated list of special events and classes. There are things in the planning stages, so updates will be posted as more information is available.
