Danae Bennett Miller

Danae Bennett Miller lives in Tumalo, Oregon and gets her inspiration from the ranch animals and wildlife surrounding her every day. She makes sculptures using a lost wax method of casting with bronze and glass. She fabricates each sculpture from many individual parts. Rather than sculpting the wax into a model, she pours it out in slabs. The ragged slabs then become the building blocks for the sculpture. A foundry translates the shapes into bronze and Danae adds the patina herself. Recently Danae began adding molded glass to her sculptures. Her large one-of-a-kind bronze sculptures are part of the cultural landscape in Bend. She also creates tabletop sculptures. Danae raises chickens with her 12 year-old son on the ranch she runs with her husband in Tumalo, Oregon.
